COMPLIANCE PROGRAM

Compliance is the documentation of usage of the PAP equipment by each client. The compliance data is obtained from the PAP machine and is reported in hours used per night at the prescribed therapy level. Compliance is followed for two reasons. 

Most referring MD’s want to see the usage data from their patients in order to follow the care prescribed by them. Compliance, or lack thereof, can also indicate problems that the customer is having adjusting to the PAP therapy. By identifying these problems, we can perhaps intervene to help ensure successful therapy ordered by the MD. 

Secondly, SOME insurance companies require a certain level of usage for the PAP equipment, nightly, in order to qualify for insurance payment for the equipment. 

Currently, the Medicare guidelines for “compliance” are defined as follows;
“the client must show usage of at least four (4) hrs per night for seventy percent (70%) of any consecutive 30 days, during the first ninety period after initial set-up.” or they will not authorize payment.

For most other clients, we will endeavor the obtain compliance data in the first thirty (30) days and again in after ninety (90) days, and then every ninety (90) days thereafter. This information is shared with your doctor via printed report or over a secure monitoring website on the internet.

 

Patient is dispensed machine based on the script from Physician:

• Patient may given a modem or SMARTCARD with the machine delivery.
• If by modem then the compliance is monitored automatically
• If by Smartcard you will be given a return envelope to send it back to us when requested
• After 90 days you may be switched from one method to the other

Compliance Monitoring:

1.       Medicare every 30 days for first 90 days.

2.      All others-1^st download in 30 days.
